Coming to the US at the age of 13, I have spent an almost equal amount of years in the US and in China. All the history and literature that I learn are centered in the western world and after years of living here, I feel a sense of emptiness in me. Western art and literature hardly resonate with me.

Chinese tradition became something that is nostalgic and drew me in. My craving for tradition comes from all directions. Art, literature, architecture, etc.
